BSK | Valhalla - Legion I
“Valhalla is Legio I — not because it was first, but because it endured.”
Title: Founding Legion of Blacksky
Honor Standing: Intact
LEGION OVERVIEW
Valhalla stands as the First Legion of Blacksky, formally designated Legio I. It is recognized as the first fully realized Legion established under codified Blacksky doctrine and serves as the structural foundation against which future Legions are measured. Valhalla does not claim to be the first act of Blacksky. It is the first Legion to endure under a stable and codified command structure.
Unlike all subsequent Legions, Valhalla is not permanently assigned to a single game. It serves as the origin Legion of the Blacksky Imperium, providing an established home for newly formed Chapters representing games not currently supported elsewhere within Blacksky.
New Chapters may be established within Valhalla and remain there as they recruit, grow, and develop their leadership structure. If a game eventually supports multiple healthy Chapters and develops sufficient strength, activity, leadership, and organizational depth to justify independent Legion status, those Chapters may be transferred from Valhalla into a newly established Legion. Valhalla therefore serves both as the Founding Legion of Blacksky and as the permanent point of origin for future Legion development.
LEGION AUTHORITY
Legion Command: Established
Legion Oversight: Praetorian / Blacksky High Command
Legatus: None
Legion Doctrine: Fully Codified
Legion Relic Standard: Sealed and Active
Valhalla does not maintain the office of Legatus. This distinction is permanent and reflects Valhalla’s unique role within the Imperium. Unlike dedicated Legions, which organize established Chapters belonging to a specific game under a Legatus, Valhalla exists to receive and oversee newly established Chapters until their respective games develop enough strength to justify independent Legion formation.
When Blacksky possesses the necessary leadership structure, Valhalla is overseen by a Praetorian assigned specifically to Legio I. That Praetorian is selected from qualified members of the existing Legati and assumes responsibility for the oversight of Valhalla’s Exarchs, Sections, and continued structural development. When no Praetorian is available to hold this assignment, oversight of Valhalla falls to the appropriate Custodian or Founder authority. Valhalla remains subject at all times to Blacksky High Command.
NOTES OF ORIGIN
Valhalla is recognized as Legio I because it endured beyond the failed Proto-Legion era. That earlier structure predates Valhalla and remains significant as the failed foundation from which Valhalla’s structure was refined. Valhalla inherited the lessons of that failure and became the first Legion to stabilize under a lasting command framework.
LEGION DOCTRINAL NOTES
Valhalla is the benchmark Legion for structure, recordkeeping, and authority. Valhalla is structurally distinct from all subsequent Legions. Valhalla is not permanently assigned to any single game. All newly approved Chapters representing games not presently supported elsewhere within Blacksky are established within Valhalla, regardless of where within the Imperium the request for formation originated.
New Chapter Formation may not be used to bypass existing Chapters, Legions, leadership, transfer procedures, or the established chain of command. When a game is already represented within Blacksky, members seeking to participate in that game must join or transfer into the existing structure. Additional Chapters for an already represented game are created through the established Chapter Split process. Valhalla does not maintain a permanent Legatus. Valhalla may contain Chapters representing multiple unrelated games simultaneously.
Valhalla is not bound by the ordinary ten-Chapter capacity applied to dedicated Legions. Its size is governed by organizational viability and the ability of its command structure to provide effective oversight. Sections and Exarch responsibilities within Valhalla remain subject to normal Blacksky command principles even when Valhalla itself exceeds the ordinary size of a dedicated Legion.
When multiple Chapters representing the same game develop sufficient membership, activity, leadership depth, stability, and long-term viability, they may become eligible for independent Legion formation. When a new Legion is established from within Valhalla, the qualifying Chapters transfer into that Legion. Their Chapters are not dissolved or recreated solely because their Legion alignment changes.
Valhalla may contain many Chapters, a single Chapter, or no Chapters at all. Its existence and designation as Legio I are permanent and are not dependent upon current Chapter strength. No Chapter within Valhalla may supersede Legion authority. Foundational Chapters are unique and non-repeatable. Legion numbering reflects continuity of structure, not chronological origin.
CHAPTER STATUS DEFINITIONS
Valhalla records each Chapter under one of four primary statuses. These designations reflect operational standing, not sentiment.
Active
A Chapter currently operating under recognized command authority and in good standing within the Legion.
Closed
A Chapter no longer operating. Closed Chapters retain their record, relic, and honor standing unless otherwise noted, and may be eligible for reopening under the Rite of Reopening.
Traitor
A Chapter formally condemned for betrayal, revolt, or willful harm against Blacksky, its Legion, or its command structure. Traitor status voids honor standing permanently, bars reopening or restoration without exception, and seals the Chapter name from future use within Blacksky.
RECORD OVERVIEW
Legion Name: Valhalla
Legion Number: I
Founding Date: 2025 (Blacksky Rebirth)
Founding Authority: Blacksky Founders
Legion Founder: BSK EXiLE
Status: Active
Legion Type: Founding / Origin Legion
Permanent Legatus: None
Primary Oversight: Assigned Praetorian or Blacksky High Command
Notes:
Valhalla is recognized as the founding Legion of Blacksky and the first Legion to receive a formal numerical designation. While a Proto-Legion structure existed before Valhalla, it did not endure. Valhalla remains the first numbered Legion because it established the continuity, command stability, and recordkeeping standard that survived. Valhalla additionally serves as the permanent origin Legion for newly established Chapters representing games not otherwise supported within Blacksky. Its designation remains intact regardless of whether Legio I currently houses many Chapters, a single Chapter, or none.
